"When Love Comes Calling" and Leadership

Context: Message being presented to congregation

Date/Time: 6/8/08
Place: Christ's Community Church
Duration: Approx. 1 hour and 45 minutes

Descriptive Notes: The message was given by Dr. / Pastor Wieland and lasted near 1.5 hours. Some significant points that were brought about were:
1. Transformation of a person is action.
2. For complete change, a person needs to transform his/her Mind / Heart / Habits
3. Biblical reference to Romans 8: 9 - 11 / Proverbs 29:1 / Psalms 51:17

Reflective Notes:

1. Randy had a large amount of children up on the stage for his children's message. The relationship that he is building are another way for him to reach the parents/adults in our midst. This obviously applies to education as we must establish good relationships with our children and their parents in order to get maximum performance and to establish the best schools
2. Randy mentioned the difference between a make over and a transformation. With the make over being more on the surface, that is something that all school leaders have to deal with as we are subject to making changes in short periods of time. Often we can't get to the transformation period. If we are given time, we can reach deep and see some significant transformation with people and program.
3. Transformation either comes from the outside in or from the inside out. Another issue that we all deal with as leaders. The challenge that we face, is to find how people respond best and then to find how to continue to support the transformation. The hope that I have is that people will respond and will transform from the inside out. That does require a sense of humbleness and an ability to reflect. Reflection is at times innate, but can also be coached through strategic opportunities.
