Descriptive Notes: This meeting was run by Pastor Randy. Using an agenda, Randy led Barry and I in quite time, prayer, reflection, and conversation on a variety of topics:
Devotion on Leadership - Who Owns a Congregation by Dan Hotchkiss
Structure Review and Reports - Deacons / Elders
Pastoral Care and Accountability
Finances
Visioning for the future - Alternative Income streams
Upcoming events - May 18 / Congregational Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation
Reflective Notes:
As a leader of a church, Pastor Randy is privileged to an enormous amount of information on the people and lives of the church goers. In order for certain practices or systems to take place, it is his role to relay that information on to others in leadership positions. How is this done and is it done effectively? During this meeting, I found Randy to be organized and efficient in following his agenda. He was able to process the day to day operations along with heavy items and then present them in a manner that leads his Admin. team to work and to support the church. Randy also discussed possible plans for remodeling a portion of the church. This project, in collaboration with the Finance team, is one that is needed at the church. However, this is a project that will cause some people in the church to experience some negative emotion. I will be curious to see what happens to our congregants when P.R. and others begin this project!
